Our first reunion began with an idea from Australia......
In February of 2000, Sandy McKeachie Forbes sent the following email that eventually led to a reunion of Oak Bay High School's 1960 graduating class. After some phone calls and emails, a reunion committee was formed and the task of contacting our class began. Meetings were held at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel Snug while Gary Wilcox launched a web site to keep everyone posted as to what was taking place. A computer data base was established, and soon a long list of "located classmates" was routinely posted each week. As the weeks rolled by, the list of missing grew smaller until we had finally found a total of 170. By the time June arrived, we had found over 180. The rest is history but to preserve the great memories, these web pages have been launched to record not only this event but also our 60th birthday party in 2002. Hopefully we will enjoy many more gatherings in the years to come.
The now famous email...

Dear Richard,
Voice from the past...I was Sandra McKeachie at OBHS 40 odd years ago...
I am trying to see if there is any interest in having a 40th year year anniversary celebration of our graduation...
Have found the web site and your email address in it...
So I have been in touch with the principal who replies that nothing is in the works yet.
I emailed John Youson who was student's council president (Prof. of biology at U of T) and he agrees good idea but thinks we shd check on interest on the ground in Victoria...
So I have also emailed a couple of others there...they are checking to see if interest around Victoria/Oak Bay...
Wonder how you would feel about it? Suggest early June....in Victoria, of course....tea at the school on a Saturday afternoon, drinks at the snug, dinner somewhere?
Would you be interested; would you attend?
I am living in Australia but through the medium of the email could help organize....and could be there. Starting with you and others who have taken enough interest to list contact details on the website...... (This was the Oak Bay High web site for alumni)
Cheers,
Sandy Forbes
